Delaware County shifted from a longtime Republican stronghold to reliably Democratic territory over the past decade, driven by suburban realignment among college-educated voters. Its 2024 margin of D+23.7 reflects one of the sharpest reversals in Pennsylvania's collar counties.

The Democratic margin in Delaware County has been steady. It reached its modern peak at twenty-seven points in 2020; the 2024 margin was twenty-four points, still in line with the county's long pattern.

Delaware County's political identity is inseparable from its demographic profile: a 63% non-Hispanic-white share, a median household income of $89,546, and the full diversity of a major metropolitan center. The county's voting pattern resembles other major urban centers most closely — Montgomery County and Clayton County.
