Terms of Service.

1. What Akashic is

Akashic publishes historical election results, demographic, religious, and geographic reference data, and editorial narrative about places. It is a reference, not a forecast, a campaign, or a political committee. Akashic does not endorse candidates, parties, or ballot measures.

2. The data license

The structured place data is published free to read under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (CC BY 4.0). You may share and adapt it, including commercially, provided you give attribution as described in /ATTRIBUTION.txt. Paid plans (see Pricing) add commercial-rights options, bulk export, the metered query API, and other surfaces; they do not remove or restrict the free CC BY tier.

3. Acceptable use

• Use the published data exports and the documented API for bulk access. Do not scrape pages at a scale that degrades the service or circumvents the API’s rate limits.
• Do not attempt to bypass authentication or access another user’s account or data.
• Do not send automated requests that violate robots.txt, except for the AI and search crawlers it explicitly allows.
• Do not use Akashic to build or coordinate partisan voter-mobilization activity; Akashic is editorially neutral.
• Do not misrepresent Akashic data as an official or certified election result, or as a race “call.”

4. Accounts & paid plans

An account requires a valid email and that you are at least 13 years old. Paid subscriptions are billed through Stripe; you can manage or cancel any time from your account. API keys you mint are yours to manage and revoke; you are responsible for keeping them secret and for usage under your keys.

5. Embeds

Embeddable widgets are governed by the widget license: attribution required, no modification of embedded content, iframe only (no re-bundling or screenshot-and-republish), and no injection of your own analytics into the iframe. The license terminates on breach.

6. No warranty

Akashic is provided “as is.” Data accuracy is not guaranteed. For any definitive figure, consult the cited first source. We correct errors when found (see methodology) but make no warranty of fitness for a particular purpose.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Akashic and Akashic Intelligence are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the site or its data. This is a reference tool; decisions you make from the data are your own.

8. Governing law & changes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. We may update these terms; material changes are published here with a new date, and opted-in subscribers are notified by newsletter. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance.
