Prince George's County delivers some of Maryland's largest raw Democratic margins, driven by its majority African American population and proximity to Washington, D.C. Its suburbs have grown rapidly, adding younger, college-educated residents to an already heavily blue electorate.
Across the recorded series it reached a Democratic high of 80.6 points in 2016 and a Republican high of 18.9 points in 1928. Between 2020 and 2024 the county moved 5.8 points toward the Republican candidate; the 2024 margin was 74.8 points.
A population of 959,754, a 11% non-Hispanic-white share, and a median household income of $101,798 describe the county. The county's voting pattern over the last decade is most similar to that of Noxubee County and Petersburg city.
