East Feliciana's electorate has shifted decisively rightward over two decades even as its small-town county seat retains traces of its 19th-century planter-class architecture and a historically Black college presence at Southern University's law campus nearby.
The shift began with civil rights. 2000 marked the realignment in East Feliciana Parish, by a two points margin. The Republican margin reached its widest at twenty-two points in 2024. The 2024 margin was twenty-two points.
The political shift has tracked, in East Feliciana Parish, the political shift of the South more broadly. A 55% non-Hispanic-white share, a median household income of $73,085, and a 16% poverty rate describe the demographic context. The county's voting pattern over the last decade is most similar to that of De Soto Parish and Choctaw County.
