Incorporated only in 2017 after splitting from Fulton County's unincorporated areas, South Fulton is one of Georgia's newer cities and among its most distinctively African-American municipalities, with Black residents comprising roughly 90% of the population.
Across the recorded series it reached a Democratic high of 90.2 points in 2012. Between 2020 and 2024 the city moved 2.8 points toward the Republican candidate; the 2024 margin was 86.0 points.
