Citation and reuse

Cite Akashic figures, data, maps, embeds, and analysis with the place, metric, vintage, source, method, and retrieval date needed for verification.

A useful citation lets another person find the same place, identify the same measure, understand the evidence class, and reproduce the interpretation.

Minimum citation elements

Include:

  1. Akashic as publisher;
  2. page or data-record title;
  3. exact stable URL;
  4. metric or table used;
  5. election year, survey vintage, or edition date;
  6. retrieval date;
  7. estimate or methodological qualifier when present.

Add the source or estimate note when the claim depends on more than a straightforward certified county result.

Data-record example

For reproducible research, also retain the data-release or response release header when available.

Forecast example

A forecast citation must identify the locked edition or publication time:

Akashic Intelligence, 2026 US Senate forecast, edition published [date/time], race probability for [race], accessed [date].

Do not cite a retrospective backtest as though it were a prospectively published forecast.

Maps and screenshots

A map citation includes the selected metric, year, geography tier, legend/classification, and URL. A screenshot should not be the only evidence retained; keep the underlying page or record URL.

Do not crop away the legend, estimate marker, source note, or attribution when those elements determine the meaning of the map.

Embeds

Use the embed builder or documented iframe URL. Keep the built-in attribution intact. Do not overlay or restyle an embed in a way that makes Akashic appear to endorse a publisher's conclusion.

Quoting narrative text

Quote only the amount needed and link the original page. Distinguish Akashic's editorial synthesis from upstream source language. A factual claim in narrative prose should be checked against the linked data or source before republication.

License

Follow the repository and public license files for Akashic material. Upstream datasets retain their own terms. A citation to Akashic does not erase an upstream attribution requirement.

Publication checklist

  • Is the place boundary the one I intend?
  • Is the measure a proportion, percent, percentage-point margin, count, rate, rank, or model score?
  • Did I record the denominator?
  • Is the result native, reconciled, estimated, partial, or missing?
  • Did I preserve the year/vintage and retrieval date?
  • Does the source support the causal language I used?
  • Can a reader reach the underlying page or record?
