Georgia's 13th stretches through majority-Black suburbs southwest of Atlanta and routinely posts presidential margins exceeding 50 points Democratic, making it one of the most reliably one-sided districts in the country.
The unraveling was not abrupt. The Democratic margin in Georgia 13th Congressional District peaked at eighty-three points in 1932; it narrowed steadily over the late twentieth century. The 1992 election delivered the district to the Republican party for the first time in many years, by a margin of seven points. By 2024, the margin had widened further.
The economic and demographic context is severe. The median household income of $85,234 is among the lowest at this geographic scale; 13% of residents live below the federal poverty line.
