Akashic Places · authoritative geography builder

Research it. Review it. Make it a Place.

This workflow resolves a real geography from an allowlisted government source instead of pretending that only Akashic's current table levels exist. Review the legal and statistical area types, inspect the map, then save the reviewed source roster. Akashic re-fetches its exact boundary on the server before creating the Place.

Original request: Create a Place page for Native American reservations.

1. Review the source scope

The default interpretation is federal reservations plus associated off-reservation trust lands.

Census entity types
Boundary source: U.S. Census Bureau TIGERweb AIANNHA, 2025. Election values on the resulting custom Place are estimates where the boundary cuts through counties; the generated Place discloses the allocation method by cycle.

2. Inspect the authoritative source boundary

The preview is rebuilt from Census whenever the scope or official-name filter changes.

3. Create the Place

The save request contains exact source IDs, not trusted browser geometry. The server re-resolves every entity before saving.

Back to Places

Source selection is deterministic and allowlisted. Akashic does not fetch a model-supplied URL, trust browser-supplied geometry, silently replace unresolved entities, or claim a real geography does not exist because it is absent from the table.
