Wicker has held this seat since 2007 (originally appointed after Trent Lott's resignation) and is the ranking member on Armed Services — one of the most powerful positions in the Senate. Mississippi went for Trump by 23 in 2024, and the last competitive Senate race here was the 2018 special where Cindy Hyde-Smith beat Mike Espy by 8 in a runoff. Democrats would need another Espy-caliber recruit and a catastrophic GOP environment to make this interesting, and neither is happening. Wicker cruises.
